Welcome back to Banking on Cultura. I am your host, Victoria Jenn Rodriguez, and today I want to talk to you about something that has been impacting a lot of my students inside the Dare to Leap Academy. The Dare to Leap Academy is my online learning platform where I teach women in corporate how to transition to entrepreneurship without losing their financial security. And like many of us are feeling, kind of just the the emotional roller coaster of life, everything that's going on in the world externally, everything that is on social media that is literally shoved down our throats and just really thinking about who we are and why we are in this new world that we are all forced to kind of find ourselves in because there is so much complexity and there's just so much going on. And for many of us, we are just carrying the weight on our shoulders every single day, trying to figure it out, right? For some of you, it might be purpose. You're trying to identify what that is. For others, you might feel like you're in a funk and you're just like stuck. For others, you might feel like you're just not motivated, like you just don't feel like it anymore. Trust me, I get it. I got you. And every week, I host a coaching call inside the Dare to Leap Academy, and we had this amazing conversation because I was picking up on the cues. I was picking up on the cues of, you know, my students just not feeling it and just in this funk. I've been there. I know what it feels like. And so I shared with them a couple of ways that they can manage their emotions so that they show up even when they really do not feel like it. And some of what I'm going to share today actually was shared with me from a health coach. So, for those who don't know, I've been on this health journey for a while now, and I have an amazing health coach. Shout out to Maris. I appreciate you because he constantly just calls me at the right time, exactly when I need it. And I'm hoping that by tuning in to today's episode, it is right on time for you. So we're going to talk about about how to manage your emotions to improve your mood, all right? And I have a couple of steps that I want you guys to consider if you find yourself in these moods of funkiness and just not feeling like yourself. Hopefully this helps you. So the first is getting on a routine. And I know that routines can feel like a job, can feel like an obligation, but they help create structure and give you clarity on what you're going to do next. So let's talk about what this routine looks like for me so that you can hopefully make it a best practice of your own. You need to wake up at the same time every single day, and as entrepreneurs who have the flexibility of managing our own time, it sometimes gets really easy to be lazy because you don't have a micromanager. You don't have somebody that you need to report to. You don't have a boss that you need to check in with. And so it's really easy to just be, you know, "Gone With the Wind Fabulous" honey, and show up when only you feel like it, not when you need to, right? To move your dreams ahead. So waking up at the same time is significant and getting yourself on the routine. So you wake up at the same time every day, then you meditate for 10 minutes. And you can literally find a meditation for 10 minutes on YouTube. I've been recommended to listen to Tony Robbins. I've been listening to him, but there are so many resources out there for you, and this meditation piece is so significant because it's going to set the tone for your day and just help you breathe before just the craziness of the world comes into your space, right? You want to just create this like sphere, almost like a Utopia of silence just for you so that you are able to just get yourself centered for the day ahead. And a meditation doesn't need to be necessarily silent. One of the ones that I've done with Tony Robbins has me speaking and speaking affirmations out to myself and then breathing. So you can find what works for you, but do a meditation for 10 minutes, okay? After that, you want to journal for 10 to 15 minutes. And this doesn't need to be a homework assignment in terms of you don't need to have structure on what you're going to write about. I want you to just literally put onto paper what you are feeling, what you are thinking. That is what's significant. That is what you want to journal on. I don't want you guys to overcomplicate the process. I want you guys to just be in tune with yourself. That is the whole point and purpose of this exercise. So after you meditate for 10 minutes, you journal for 10 to 15 minutes, then you want to exercise, okay? Now you have to get into this vibe of moving your your body. A, because it's good for you and listen, health is definitely wealth, darling. And also, it is about building your discipline. Discipline will help you feel better about yourself, especially if you're in a funk. There's no way that you're going to be able to get out of a black hole if you are in one, if you are not taking action, right? If you are not moving, right? In order for there for there to be some type of progress, you need to take action, all right, guys? So I want you to tap into that. So, number two, I want you guys to form a "Badassery Committee." This is actually one of the pieces of my framework for getting over imposter syndrome and working through imposter syndrome is identifying your badassery committee. Now, these are five to six people who you trust, who know you, and who will literally be on call. So in your moments of of deep self-doubt, depression, anxiety, stress, in the black hole, in the funk, you have these five to six people that you are going to call upon to restore life into you, right? Speak life into you, to kind of fuel you up and remind you of the badass that you are. And this is a very prestigious role, y'all, so when somebody's on your committee, let them know that they are on your committee. And if you find that you do not have anybody that you can call on for this type of service, this, then you need to join communities like the Dare to Leap Academy so that you are in an environment with like-minded people who are there to support you and want to see you succeed, all right? Number three, I want you to be responsible for getting out of your funk. What does that mean? That means that you cannot blame anybody else for the space that you are in because the only control that you have is over yourself, the way that you you are choosing to think, the way that you are choosing to show up, your behaviors, getting on this routine. You need to take responsibility for where you are right now and really self-examine what you are doing and what you are not doing that is causing you to be in this space. It's important. Journal on it. It's important for you to be self-aware enough to know so that you can start addressing your areas of improvement. Next, there is a 48-hour rule, okay? And what this means is I need you guys to start executing on what it is that you are learning. So for those of you in coaching programs, for those of you who are thinking about taking a new step, starting a new project, and you're going to webinars, you're going to all these conferences, you're listening to Banking on Cultura, you're getting all this amazing information but you are not implementing or executing on any of that information, then it's kind of a waste of time. So, implement a 48-hour rule, which means that from whatever you are listening to, whatever you are learning, take one to three pieces of what you are learning and implement it within 48 hours because after 48 hours, you guys are not going to implement it. That's just the way that it is. So, put yourself on a 48-hour rule. I actually got that tip from a previous guest, "Runway Billionaire," so if you haven't listened to that episode, make sure to go back and listen to it 'cause he was dropping gems, okay? Next, I want you to identify what makes you feel alive. Like, what makes you smile? What energizes you? For me, I love being on stage. I love being, you know, here with you guys doing Banking on Cultura. I love coaching my students inside the Dare to Leap Academy. I love coaching my private clients. Like, it literally fuels me and lights me up. So if I'm ever in a funk, I know that I can insert myself into those spaces and automatically my mood shifts. So you need to identify what are those things for you so that you are able to fuel yourself if somebody's not available on your badassery committee 'cause there might that might be the case. So, you need to learn how to motivate and inspire yourself and how to make yourself happy. So begin to identify those things, okay? And journal about them. Next, affirmations. I am a strong believer of affirmations. I want you guys to start speaking to yourself in a positive way. Look at yourself in the mirror and speak to yourself positively. Encourage yourself. Inspire yourself. It is important for you to be able to talk your [ __ ] to yourself and not need to lean on anybody else to shift your mood because it will make you that much more powerful and that much more in control of your life. What is happening in your life and what isn't happening in your life. Boundaries, okay? So, affirmations are critical. Next is therapy. Now, people have mixed feelings about therapy, but therapy is a resource. It is a tool that you can use to help you enhance your mood, to help you figure out something that you've been struggling with emotionally, mentally, physically. It is a tool. It is a resource. And you actually would be putting yourself at a disadvantage if you're not taking into consideration the resources and tools that are available to you so that you can be the best version of you. So if therapy is it, then tap into that. There are so many resources out there. You don't even have to go to anyone's office. You can do it virtually. There literally are so many different ways for you to tap into that resource. So, take advantage of that. And then the last thing, and sometimes a lot of folks struggle with this, particularly I find women struggle with this because we are, and men as well, you know, we're just really good at covering up, meaning we're we're good at smiling on the outside and we could be dying in the inside, right? We we like to show up like we have it all together. We're very pristine. We've got all the answers. But in reality, we are falling apart. And so asking for help is paramount to helping you move the needle, to help you get out of your own way, to help improve your mood, to help you fight through those emotions. Don't be afraid to ask for help. I ask for help all the time, all the time on my badassery committee, on my friends. If I'm in a funk, I'm calling people and they're picking up the phone because they know that if I'm calling them, there's some [ __ ] going down and I need them in that moment. Don't be shy or or feel like you're less than because you need to ask for help. Asking for help and coming from a vulnerable space is actually a superpower. It is a superpower. It may not feel like it in the moment because we've been trained to believe that vulnerability is is a weakness and you don't have your [ __ ] together if you're being vulnerable, but I promise you, there's freedom and peace in being able to share your truth and being able to trust someone with that truth. So, ask for help, all right, guys? So, I hope this was super helpful to you. If it was, let me know your thoughts in the comments. Let me know what you're thinking about Banking on Cultura. You know, we love your feedback. So, please tap in with us and I'll see you on the next episode, y'all. Ciao. I need your help. Look, the real game behind podcast is we need to really understand our demo, AKA you, our audience, so that when we go out to sponsors who help us put on this amazing show and deliver this content to you, that they can clearly understand who we serve and what is significant to you and what you value. And the only way for us to get that information is for you to give it to us. So we just created this survey. I'll put it in the show notes. It will take you less than 3 minutes literally, but it will be so helpful for us to get a better understanding of what it is that you care about, what's important to you, what do you value, so that when we're out in these streets trying to secure the big bag and get sponsors for this show, they know exactly who our audience is and what you care about so we can bring you the best products. We can bring you the best organizations that are out here serving the Cultura, the community, you. So please take a moment and fill out the survey. I'll link it in the show notes. Appreciate you. I hope you enjoyed today's episode. Make sure to leave me a comment. Make sure to subscribe. If you're listening on the audio streets, make sure to leave us a review and I can't wait to see you on the next episode. Till next time, guys.
